Sclessin was the podium for a very disappointing topper. Standard and KRC Genk kept it 0-0 in a disadvantaged game and a lot was said straight away.

Hannes Wolf surprisingly preferred Wouters on Sclessin Kouassi and opted for a striker duo Dessers-Onuachu. Daehli moved to the bank. The home team started with Cimirot as the logical replacement for the injured Bastien. Amallah played number ten and Boljevic came on the right winger.
It was particularly difficult at Genk playing football, but it had the best chances before half time. The visitors showed themselves particularly dangerous via fast counters. After ten minutes, Laifis lost the ball. Via Onuachu and Dessers it went to Bongonda, who saw Bodart go flat on his shot.
After fifteen minutes, Vojvoda gave the ball to Dessers as a present. The striker then dribbled the same Vojvoda and Laifis, but a little tap from Bodart prevented Dessers from putting him in goal. After half an hour, Standard finally arrived. Lestienne scored on a falling ball, but the goal was disallowed by Avenatti’s hands.
The level did not improve in the second half. De Rouches lost the ball countless times in the back, while Genk lacked creativity. Opportunities were scarce. For example, Onuachu was stopped by Bodart in the 55th minute. Moments later, Vukovic reacted well to Amallah’s place ball.
Onuachu once again got into a dangerous position. The Nigerian always had to head, but tried with his foot. That gave Gavory plenty of time to intervene. In the meantime, the carelessness continued to pile up. Genk claimed the three points the most, but the ideas were missing. Boys like Dessers and Ito were also not in the match at all.
In the end, Amallah still had to push with red. The midfielder – who also did not play his best match – got yellow a second time for kicking the corner kick flag. Correct by the letter of the law, but oh so silly of Laforge.
Anyway, a real final offensive no longer came about at Racing. Standard – KRC Genk ended the way we started. The first loss of points for Standard, Genk takes five out of nine.
