The only big round in which the Slovenians competed against each other in an individual time trial was the Vuelta of 2019. Roglic won, Pogacar finished in eleventh place in almost a minute and a half.
Then the two only met again in a time trial at the Slovenian national championship last June. The 21-year-old Pogacar was nine seconds faster than Roglic on a mountainous course of sixteen kilometers.
Roglic will sign for that result today. That means that the leader of Jumbo-Visma will ride the Champs-Elysées tomorrow in the yellow jersey.
The Board of Beautiful Girls
The climbing time trial leads the riders one by one to the top to La Planche des Belles Filles, a well-known finish in the Tour de France. The finish line had been drawn here four times before, but never before has the mountain of the first category been the stage for a time trial.
