Spotify: video podcasts arrive in France

Spotify videos podcastsSpotify is launching video podcasts in six new countries today: France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Brazil and Mexico. This is the first salvo from non-English speaking countries in which the feature is coming to all creators.

Since last April, Spotify has allowed podcast creators to add videos to make their content more appealing to listeners. The leader in music streaming first tested it in 2020 with a sample of users, before offering it to a larger number of creators last year and then to all creators in the United States, Canada , New Zealand, Australia and the United Kingdom.

And today, the Swedish firm launches video podcasts in six new countries including France. French creators will now be able to publish video podcasts on Spotify and make their audio content even more attractive.

Podcasts continue to grow

In his communiquéSpotify indicates that these six new countries “are markets with particularly strong communities of podcast creators who have shown a healthy appetite for new ways to create and experience podcasts. Video-native podcasters will now have access to Spotify’s audience anywhere in the world, while audio-native podcasters can start testing video and deliver content that listeners can engage with more deeply.”.

In addition to offering to add videos to podcasts, Spotify also offers monetization tools for creators and the possibility for listeners to subscribe to their favorite creators. Creators can also take advantage of tools like FAQs and polls to engage their community.

For Spotify, video podcasts are “a historically underutilized type of content, but one that has the potential to grow by unlocking a new way for communities to collaborate with their favorite podcasts”.

The expansion of this feature confirms once again Spotify’s great interest in podcasts, which the platform wants to put forward to win against its competitors.
