Education invests 1.6 million to expand IES Los Angeles

The Ministry of Education and Sports of the Junta de Andalucíathrough the Andalusian Public Agency for Education, has begun the expansion and reform works of the Secondary Education Institute (IES) The Angels of Almería, which will represent an investment of 1,624,570 euros. The territorial delegate of this Ministry, Antonio Jiménez, accompanied by the head of the Planning and Schooling Service, Maribel Fernández, has visited the educational center where he has met with the director, Manuel Soto and the management team.

The works, with an execution period of 13 monthsconsist of the expansion of teaching spaces for the training cycles of the Transport and Vehicle Maintenance family and will allow the removal of a prefabricated module with two classrooms installed in 2009.



A new workshop classroom will be created 100 square meters for Secondary, the machining workshop will be remodeled and new ones for electromechanics, electricity and motors with a laboratory will be obtained. Toilets and changing rooms will also be built.

Likewise, the works include the elimination of architectural barriers and the installation of a lift in the main classrooms, expansion and repair of the sports courts, adjustments to the facade and interior finishes, replacement of access doors, execution of a gas and smoke evacuation network and adaptation of the electrical installation, among other improvements.

IES Los Angeles has four lines of Compulsory Secondary Education (ESO) and three of Baccalaureate. It also teaches a Basic Vocational Training cycle, four Intermediate Level training cycles and six Higher Level cycles, with more than 1,700 students enrolled.

This extension and reform works of the IES Los Angeles are part of the Educational Infrastructure Plan of the Ministry of Education and Sports, which is run by the Andalusian Public Agency for Education. The action has European co-financing through the Andalusian FEDER funds 2014-2020.
