Sports COVID Exposure Protocol / Sports COVID Exposure Protocol

During this unusual time of a global pandemic, West Linn-Wilsonville School District is committed to providing safe school and co-curricular activities for all students. We operate within the guidance and recommendations of multiple agencies including the Oregon Health Authority, the Oregon Department of Education, the Clackamas County Public Health Department, and the Oregon School Athletics and Activities Association. The District makes decisions that work to balance the opportunities for students to participate with the restrictions required to lessen the spread of COVID-19 in our community.

Participating in athletics and activities provide strong benefits to student participants. Yet in a time of pandemic, participating in athletics and activities also brings additional risks of exposure. Students and families who opt into WLWV athletics and activities acknowledge these additional risks, and must be prepared to follow appropriate steps if an exposure to the virus does occur.

In regards to Contact Sports, any team that experiences one or more of its players being present at game, practice, or other team gathering during an infectious period will result in the entire team moving into a minimum 10 day quarantine. This decision was made with the recommendation of the Clackamas County Infectious Disease Nursing Team and is in alignment with OHA Sector Risk Guidance. The only exception to this will be if a student was physically absent from the team for the entire infectious period.
