Mercedes-Benz has introduced its new flagship – the EQS electric executive sedan. The electric car is a green alternative to the S-Class W223 sedan. The length of the Mercedes-Benz EQS is 5265 mm.
The new car is the first of many EQ models to be built on a modular platform over the next two years.
EQS will launch a large number of electric sedans and crossovers, but it itself is the largest and best of them, as well as the most expensive, at least for now.
The German manufacturer reports that the EQS has a drag coefficient of only 0.20, making it the most aerodynamic production car in the history of Mercedes-Benz. One of the main advantages of such an aerodynamic body is the mileage after charging, thanks to which the Mercedes-Benz EQS 450+ can travel at least 770 kilometers (WLTP).
Earlier the Germans already showed the interior of the new flagship with a huge display of the new multimedia system MBUX Hyperscreen. It is 56 inches (142 cm) wide. In fact, the hyper screen is three displays combined into one: two 12.3-inch (digital instrument panel and passenger display) and a 17-inch multimedia screen.
At the beginning of sales will be available only two options for the units and one battery of 107.8 kilowatt hours. The EQS 450+ version is equipped with an engine with 333 horsepower and 568 Nm of torque.
The Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 4Matic version has four-wheel drive and is powered by an electric motor on each axle, and together they produce 523 horsepower and 855 Nm of torque.

The EQS 450+ accelerates from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 6.2 seconds, while the EQS 580 4Matic takes 4.3 seconds. The maximum speed for both versions is limited to 210 kilometers per hour.
A smaller battery with a usable energy capacity of 90 kilowatt-hours will be available later, as well as an AMG version with a total power of 761 horsepower.

The electric car can be charged at fast DC charging stations with a capacity of up to 200 kilowatts, receiving enough energy in 15 minutes to travel 300 kilometers.
The standard equipment of the Mercedes EQS includes about 350 sensors that ensure the operation of various systems. In this way, the electronics even automatically open the door when the owner comes close.
For an additional fee, the sedan will be equipped with a semi-automatic Drive Pilot control system corresponding to the third level of autonomy. As noted in the company, the driver will be able to release his hands from the wheel only at speeds up to 60 km / h and only on certain sections of highways, mainly in Germany.
