After the state elections in Saxony-Anhalt, several SPD state politicians have called for the SPD embassies to be tightened up for the federal election campaign. “We have to intensify the three projects we are concerned with in the coming legislative period so that the voters identify with us at any time of the day,” said Lower Saxony’s SPD state chairman Stephan Weil of “Welt”. Firstly, there is the connection between work and the environment, climate protection and economic prosperity.
Second, one must “make it very clear” how to bring people with below-average educational and prosperity opportunities into the middle of society. Thirdly, one must explain how one can strengthen fair conditions in the economy on the European path. Thuringia’s SPD leader Georg Maier called for the election program to be condensed into “very clear” messages in the final phase of the campaign. You have to teach people how you want to improve living conditions on everyday issues. These included improvements in education, health care and local public transport. The party must also bring the family issue to the fore. The Schleswig-Holstein SPD parliamentary group leader Ralf Stegner said with a view to the election campaign that “emotion and passion are needed in our own ranks”. When it comes to social justice, you have to send clear messages, for example in the area of care and affordable housing.
