Bulog Gets In Debt of IDR 13 Trillion!

Jakarta

Perum Bulog turns out to have a debt of Rp 13 trillion. Bulog President Director Budi Waseso or commonly called Buwas said the debt was triggered by the procurement of Government Rice Reserves (CBP), which so far has reached 1.2 million tons.

Buwas revealed that 1.2 million tons was the absorption of farmers’ rice in Bulog until the third week of December 2021.

“Our debt is Rp 13 trillion, where is Rp 13 trillion of our debt? Yes, the CBP rice, which is 1 million tons, is the rice from debt. Where, when we have distributed it on a state assignment, will it be paid. it will be paid immediately, otherwise Bulog will lose, the longer it will be paid, the more interest will increase,” he said at a press conference at the Bulog Perum office, Tuesday (12/28/2021).

According to Buwas, the debt should be reduced. One of them is if the payment for CBP procurement is paid directly by the government. Meanwhile, at this time, the government will pay the CBP procurement funds after the rice is distributed.

“We hope that in the future there will be certainty. Previously, the need for CBP was 800 to 850 thousand tons per year, then our debt could be reduced by Rp. 9 trillion. So hopefully the regulations will change,” he said.

“Supposedly after we procured 1 million, it was audited by the BPK, 1 million with the quality in accordance with the standards stated in the government law. Once completed, the government immediately paid the amount of 1 million tons, to be paid. So Bulog has no debt, no interest ,” he added.

If it is paid directly, then Bulog will only need to provide funds for transportation needs for rice distribution and rice maintenance. Thus the debt Bulog don’t pile up. “This is what I am conveying to the government, there must be a change in regulations, so that Bulog is not like it is now, for months in debt,” he said.
