Spanish league stands still until summer – football

No chance of returning to normal soon! According to the Minister of Health, the Spanish Primera Division will no longer be kicked off again.

League operations in Spain have been suspended since March 12. The country has been hit hard by the Corona crisis with more than 22,000 deaths. Hopes that league operations could continue in June are now being significantly dampened.

“It would be ruthless to say now that professional football will be back before summer,” said Health Minister Salvador Illa. “We will continue to monitor developments and the guidelines we will present will show how various activities can return to normal.”

The Primera Division hoped that it would be possible to test all players daily in order to be able to resume league operations soon. Illa makes it clear that this is not possible: “The tests have to be made available to the regional authorities, regardless of the type of test. It will be up to them to decide. We have to have a common strategy We all have to pull in the same direction. “
