A South Carolina man is accused of breaking into his ex-girlfriend’s home and throwing his deceased son’s ashes in the trash while out on bail for a previous crime.according to a police report.

Subject identified as Joseph Oberlies, 33, was charged with first-degree robbery and destruction of human remains when he was admitted to Al Cannon Detention Center in North Charleston, South Carolina on Thursday, he reported. ABC News 4.

Oberlies, who told police he was “drunk” when he desecrated the grave of his ex’s son, later that night he was released with a $ 60,000 bond.

Officers responded on Monday to a report on a home invasion allegedly two days earlier.

Oberlies was caught on Saturday at 3:00 am by a security camera as he approached the door of his ex-girlfriend’s house, entering the place through the security code. The suspect was seen leaving the residence a few minutes later and returned at 4:00 am, staying home until 7:52 am, reportedly.

The ex-girlfriend from Oberlies told police she wasn’t home when the man broke in, saying she threw a hammer at her flat-screen TV, as well as throwing away the ashes of her son he had with the her ex-husband, reported Fox News.

According to the report, the victim noted that Oberlies, who dated her several months before 2022, could not have known that she and her children would not be home when the man broke in. and admitted that he felt scared at the thought of what he would do if they were.

Oberlies was out on bail for a previous arrest on August 5, when he was charged with first-degree assault and beatings for allegedly breaking into another ex’s home and stabbing her, according to prison records.
