Books- Omar Qora:

Libuhang Mokwena, the South African club Morroca Swallows, revealed that he attracted the attention of Al-Ahly for his inclusion in the early years of his career, but his parents refused because of his young age at that time about 16 years ago.

“When I was with the South Africa under-17 team, I was supposed to move to Al-Ahly,” Mokoena said in comments to the South African newspaper “Sowetanlive” on Friday.

The 33-year-old added: “I think they offered good money for me to come and play for their reserve team at that time.”

“I won the award for the best player in the tournament with the youth team under 17 years old, and Al Ahly wanted to sign with me, but my parents refused because they wanted to develop a little and continue my studies,” the international player concluded.

Mokwena began his career with the first team in South Africa when he was called up to participate in the 2006 Nations Cup, which was hosted by Egypt and won its title.

It is noteworthy that Mokoena was then represented by the Orlando Pirates, before moving to Mamelodi Sundowns, who won him the league title twice, then played for Ajax Cape Town and Maccabi, and he is currently in Moroka Swallows, where he moved last summer.
