It was in an interview with Variety that Hulst barely touched on what Sony’s own studios are currently doing. There he said, among other things, that PlayStation Studios focuses on variety, and almost half of the 25 games will be completely new intellectual works.

– There is an incredible amount of variation that comes from different regions. Big, small and different genres, Hulst said without going into more detail.

The statement follows several weeks of speculation about changes in Sony’s game strategy. This began when the company closed down the indie-focused Japan Studio earlier this year, and has since continued with rumors that Sony wants to invest more in existing series and proven sales successes.

On Bloomberg report from April claimed, for example, that work is underway on a new version of The Last of Us for PlayStation 5. In the same report, it was revealed that Days Gone – which sold well, but received a mediocre reception from many fans and critics – does not get a sequel,

Confirmed games for PlayStation 5 include Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Horizon Forbidden West, Gran Turismo 7 and the next God of War game.
