Soldier Israel (IDF) announced the death of two reservists during fighting in Gaza Strip. One of the dead was Gal Meir Eisenkot (25 years old) from Battalion 699 Brigade 551, Herzliya.

Gal Meir Eisenkot is the son of the former head of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), Gadi Eizenkot, who currently also serves as an Israeli cabinet minister from the National Unity Party led by Benny Gantz.

Reuters on Thursday (7/12) reported that the Israeli military did not provide details about the death of Gal Meir Eisenkot. They only said he was killed in fighting in the northern Gaza Strip.

Gadi Eizenkot also learned the news when he visited IDF Southern Command with Benny Gantz that day.

Meanwhile, another soldier who was confirmed dead was Jonathan David Deitch, 34, from Reconnaissance Battalion 6623, 55th Brigade, from Harish. He was killed in a firefight in the southern Gaza Strip.

Benny Gantz expressed his condolences, especially for Eizenkot.

“Along with all of Israel, I extend my support to Gadi and his entire family, as well as a big hug. We are all committed to continuing to fight for the sacred cause of Gal’s death,” Gantz said in a statement.

In a condolence message, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also expressed his sorrow.

Israel previously vowed to destroy Hamas after its fighters killed 1,200 people in Israel and dragged 240 others back to Gaza as hostages, according to Israeli counts.

They responded with aggression in the Gaza area so that more than 17,000 Palestinians have been killed there since October 7. According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, most of the victims were women and children.

Not only that, around 1.9 million people, or 85 percent of the population in Gaza have been displaced.

Meanwhile, around 89 soldiers were killed in ground attacks in recent times.
