Sommets de New York: Top of the Rock or bien the Edge?

Have you planned to climb the peaks during your All Saints holiday stay? Or get friends asking you: The top of the rock or The edge ? Which one to choose? Here are some topics to help you.

Why choose?

Of course, in an ideal world, you would do both. But we are not in an ideal world. And you have too many children with you to afford to spend so many dollars, ie euros. Also expect unstoppable arguments to decide. To choose is to give up, right? So let’s compare what is comparable.

The price

We shouldn’t start with the price, but in NYC, ignoring it could ruin you. Either way, the cheapest ticket is around $ 40. Then there are a number of options you can take or not, which vary in price. For my part, I tried the glass of champagne on The Edge, a fun – and overpriced – experience if you have something to celebrate. You must have something to celebrate.

Visualization

My heart would go to Top of the Rock which allows me to embrace, in my opinion, a more complete view of New York and to see the tops of mythical buildings such as Chrysler up close. The view from The Edge on the Hudson River side is beautiful, but I find it less impressive. Unless you arrive at sunset time, obviously with a supplement.

On the other hand, the experience is more fun.

First, because the protective windows are slanted and sticking to them causes chills. And then the terrace overlooks a 300-meter void and a large glass opening on which you can walk. The Top of the Rock side experience is more classic.

The environment

I don’t know if you will follow me on this ground, but I find The Edge is much better suited for a step-by-step visit. For example, you can finish your route there after climbing the high line. Or, conversely, start on the terrace, then walk down the high line to Chelsea Market to devour some lobster rolls, Fat Witch brownies or delicious tacos. There are many restaurants around the Top of the Rock, but I find this long walk from point to point through The Edge to be perfect.

So yes, I’ll be you, I’ll bring my Edge tickets if you’re planning a ride before or after and a delicious lunch.

In any case, be sure to take the tour in good weather, as the sun is part of the beauty of the city. The rays of the sunset in the reflection of hundreds of windows, the very marked shadows that stand out on the facades …

Attention, however, the perceived temperature is much, much lower than that of the bottom. Cover up!
