INDIA, KOMPAS.TV – Reporting from The Sun on Saturday (22/5/2021), after the second wave of Covid-19 in India, many Covid-19 patients and who have recovered were infected with a deadly and rare black fungus.

India recorded at least 7,250 Covid-19 patients with black fungus and some of them had eye damage. Of the 60 percent of patients with the Covid-19 mutation who are hospitalized, one eye patient must be removed.

This rare condition is caused by a fungus known as mucormycosis which attacks people with weakened immune systems.

When these black mushrooms are inhaled, they can invade the lungs and sinuses before spreading to the face and brain.

Mucormycosis causes blurred or double vision, chest pain and difficulty breathing.

One of the patients, Anil Wankhede (54) experienced a headache and swollen right eye after he was discharged from the hospital after being treated for Covid-19.

He told The Times that he did not seek further medical assistance because his brother Mahendra had already paid for his treatment.

“I don’t want to bother my brother again with new problems. He has done a lot for me,” said Anil.
