Apple is offering the final version of watchOS 8.3 for download on Apple Watch over a week ago now. This version hampers charging for some users with an Apple Watch Series 7. Also, other people with an older Apple Watch also experience this problem.
Charging problem with Apple Watch and watchOS 8.3
Truth be told, many people who use a third-party charger (from several different brands) to charge their Apple Watch report that their watch charges for a few minutes and then suddenly shuts down. These are on les forums d’Apple and on Reddit that we find the comments of those users who are concerned by the concern in question. Here is a comment from one of them:
“Is anyone else experiencing erratic behavior on their Apple Watch Series 7 after update 8.3 with a third-party wireless charger (Belkin)?” Right after updating my watch started flashing between screens (charging screen, unlock screen, watch face) and eventually drained the battery to 10%. Once I put it on the charger that came in the box, it charged fine, the issues were gone. I don’t want my charger to become obsolete because of an update. “
“I have a similar issue with my BlueBolt All-in-One charger. (It charges the iPhone, the watch and the headphones at the same time). The watch does not charge, but does charge well on Apple branded chargers. Everything worked fine for me up to watchOS 8.3 ”, another person said. “Yes, after update 8.3 the cheap Apple Watch charger that I bought from eBay has stopped working. It charges the watch for a few seconds then stops. I hope this will be corrected in a future update ”, explains another user.
Some of those affected by the charging problem state that they have tried to restart the watch, it starts to charge again, but this is not a permanent solution. Others have tried to reset their watch, the problem is still there.
It is worth remembering that Apple made watchOS 8.1.1 available to correct a charging problem with the Apple Watch Series 7. Now, a new bug has appeared with watchOS 8.3 and affects older Apple Watches. watchOS 8.4 is in beta at the moment, we can only hope that Apple provides a fix.
