Social networks have been restricted in Uzbekistan

The Uzbek authorities have limited the work of social networks due to the new law on the processing of personal data. About it informs Uzbek service of Radio Liberty on Saturday, 3 July.

The regulator did not specify which social networks were subject to restrictions, but users complain about interruptions in the work of Twitter, TikTok, VKontakte and Skype.

Note that in April, a law came into force in Uzbekistan obliging Internet companies to store personal data of Uzbek users on the territory of the country.

The country also has closed access to the websites of Radio Liberty, as well as the websites of the Association for Human Rights in Central Asia, International Cooperation in the Field of Human Rights Protection, the Norwegian Helsinki Committee, and the Human Rights Forum in Uzbekistan. Also, government agencies and organizations in Uzbekistan have banned the use of anonymizers and VPN services.

Recall that in Crimea, completely websites of 13 Ukrainian media are blocked… Human rights defenders monitored the activities of 12 Crimean providers in 12 settlements of the peninsula.

It was also reported that the United States said about blocking 36 Iranian sites… Sites that were used by the Iranian Union of Islamic Radio and Television or controlled by the Kataib Hezbollah group were banned.
