In fact, everyone is worried about the scenario of a Contian subject: more than a support, it would be a fearsome competitor, which according to the polls would take away a large slice of votes both from the dem and the M5S. “Let’s face it, such an announcement would immediately mark the beginning of his career as a leader, but above all the end of his experience at Palazzo Chigi, at least in this legislature”, reasoned a majority member of parliament. But in the future, the ambition of the parliamentarians is to claim a birthright of the operation and go to the electoral collection, with an attached seat (almost) guaranteed.
National civic list hypothesis
Thus, among the corridors of Montecitorio, another suggestion circulates: in the event of an early vote, Conte can put himself at the head of a national civic list. A formula many times hypothesized in the center-left to expand the coalition, as happens in the regional elections with the president’s list, in which there is everything inside: from political personnel in search of a roof to – more or less – new faces. Therefore, not a party in the full sense of the term, but a collection of candidates, from the center to the left, to be placed side by side with civic profiles. An embryo of something new or in any case a point of support for many outgoing ladies. The sirens certainly attract centrists like Bruno Tabacci. But they do not leave many parliamentarians indifferent, even on the left, in search of a solid home under which to try re-election. First, however, the support of dem and M5S must be guaranteed until the end of the duel with Renzi. The national civic list must remain a face down card. But the climate is one of growing perplexity on all fronts. A suspect that does not play in Conte’s favor.
