Origin of the “Snow Moon”

According to the Farmers’ Almanac, Native American tribes of the Northeast referred to the second winter full moon as a Snow Moon, because of the heavy snowfall that occurs in February, CNN reports.

This year, it is a supermoon, which will be one of the largest moons of 2020, especially during its peak.

A supermoon occurs when the full moon is positioned at the point closest to the Earth in its orbit.
