A collision between a train and a light goods vehicle in Gândara dos Olivais, on the outskirts of Leiria, caused a death and a cut in traffic between Leiria and Monte Real stations.
The alert for this railway accident on the West Line was given at 17:13, according to a source from the District Command of Relief Operations (CDOS) of Leiria.
In a statement, IP informs that work is currently underway to remove the composition, for later repair of the road and replacement of circulation.
IP estimates that circulation will be fully restored as of Sunday morning.
According to the CDOS, Leiria firefighters’ means and a medical emergency and resuscitation vehicle (VMER) were mobilized for the accident site, in a total of 12 operational, supported by five vehicles.
