Sneijder fears bankruptcy: “Guys, hang on to those things!”

Wesley Sneijder hopes that the investigation by the Dutch Data Protection Authority into VoetbalTV will be clarified soon. The results are still pending, as a result of which the video platform is heading for bankruptcy.

Because the income has dried up after all investments, shareholders KNVB and Talpa are considering pulling the plug on VoetbalTV as of 1 September. The company broadcasts images of amateur footballers without the individual consent of those players. It also concerns young people from the age of 13, a vulnerable group when it comes to privacy.

Sneijder bought the system himself for his amateur club DHSC from Utrecht and would be sorry if it disappears. “We are already in difficult times together in amateur football. And I just think it should stay,” he says to Shownieuws.

“And I would like to do a bit more for that,” continues Sneijder. “I just think it is important that in amateur football everyone can just watch it. And what could be better than such a simple system that you can watch your club all year round? It doesn’t have to be that difficult. You you don’t need jet cars, you don’t need cameras. You have a system. Guys, hang on to those things! “
