On the evening of November 26, the opening ceremony of Zane Grēviņa’s new recipe book “Snack in Childhood” took place in safe and remote online conditions. The book, published by TAPT, brings together 105 different flavors from Zane’s childhood and private family recipe collection. This is the second Zane cookbook in the last two years.

Zane Grevina, better known in gourmet circles as Snack Zane, has gained popularity with her recipe blog naskoties.com, as well as useful kitchen tips on the social network Instagram, where Zane is followed by more than fifty thousand people. Zane shares various kitchen tricks and simple, but very delicious recipes, with which everyone can pamper their hosts and guests both on a daily basis and on holidays. Zane’s first book “Našķoties” saw the light of day in 2019 and was recognized as the most purchased book in Latvia last year.

The opening of the new book took place in an unusual format – online on the evening of November 26, where Zane’s followers and their families gathered at almost 1,000 screens. Many gourmets had bought books in time, ordering them from Zane Grēviņa’s e-shop. The order pack was decorated with a red stamp “Do not open the pack before November 26 at 18.10 ”so that everyone can enjoy the joy of unpacking together at the opening event. Those who could not watch the live opening of the book on the opening day can still do so on the Facebook page where the entry is stored.

In the new book “Snack on childhood” There are recipes that will always succeed and take you on a short or long journey of memory. These are 105 known, perhaps also slightly forgotten recipes, which were prepared by our mothers and grandmothers. Yes, these are also dishes for which we need one call to the ome with the question: “How much sugar did you put?” Zane is convinced that the tastiest memories do not have to be stored in Oma’s cupboard with porcelain tableware in a yellowed block. Traditions must be continued, and these recipes must be used both in everyday life and on holidays.

The book is designed just like the author’s family album, where she introduces very personal stories and memories of the dishes most often prepared in childhood. The book is divided into seven sections, starting with breakfast and ending with a family feast. In the pastry section you will find all the recipes for your favorite buns, which were still hot and convicted in the cafe for a few santims as a child, but in the section “Cakes, muffins, flatbreads” you will have the opportunity to turn your home into a real bakery and try hand butter cream and biscuit. In the “Dinner” section there are various recipes for chops, as well as soups and even the simplest pasta with meat. No less important is that the recipes in the book come from childhoods of different times – the author’s own, as well as the childhood of her parents and grandparents, so everyone close to the heart will be able to find in the book and possibly create new childhood memories and recipes in their family. Zane Grēviņa invites you to supplement the book with your notes, add leaflets and notes with your childhood recipes.

As Christmas is approaching, “Snack in childhood” will be a wonderful gift for those who want to revive long-forgotten childhood recipes, as well as for those who live outside Latvia and want to “catch” the feeling of home as a mother in the countryside or mom’s kitchen.

In creating the book, Zane emphasizes teamwork – all summer long he has worked side by side with the outstanding photographer Anda Upmala, who has created all the photos of the book, capturing the special childhood mood in both food and feelings, as well as invaluable support from the project manager and magazine Pie Galda! ” editor-in-chief Māra Pole.

Since November 27, books can be purchased in all Latvian bookstores, as well as bodite-naskoties.com and Piegalda.lv, if it is planned to be delivered outside Latvia.
