Slovaks are worried about the winter season. The country reports record increases in coronavirus despite border restrictions – ČT24 – Czech Television

The forced outflow of Czech tourists is significantly felt, for example, in the Veľký Meder spa. Czechs make up half of the clientele there, in the autumn even up to 80 percent. “We are also considering reducing the indoor pools and operating only one or two,” comments Tibor Križan, the company’s director.

Aquapark estimates that it has lost more than a million euros in sales since the beginning of the year due to coronavirus. The decrease in visitors was also felt by other entrepreneurs in the area: accommodation providers, restaurants or shops. Here, too, they would welcome help from the state in the form of a reduction in VAT and compensation for lost income.

Not only here, however, entrepreneurs complain about the inaction of the government. According to them, the problem is “all-Slovak”. Entrepreneurs from all over the country came up with the demands before the government office. They say that the crisis has hit their sector the hardest. Border restrictions will make the situation worse.

In other countries, according to them, governments have helped tourism much more. Slovak entrepreneurs like, for example, the Czech program Covid – spa. They point out that the support of tourism has also been launched by Austria and Hungary.

“We are trying to find a solution that will be as targeted as possible. So that it is not about helping en bloc for everyone, even those who basically had a very top summer season, “said Slovak Prime Minister Igor Matovic.

The situation is serious, says Matovič. He will take the fight against coronavirus in his own hands

“The situation is extremely serious, so after three months I take the fight against covid-19 into my own hands with the same goal as during the first wave – to win it with the least possible consequences for the health and lives of innocent people,” commented Matovič on the current coronavirus situation.

The prime minister has defined himself against the people who are reducing the risk of the epidemic. “Today, due to crazy nonsense about the flu and insufficiently oxygenated brain due to drapes, we have reached another record of 552 infections, and it will be worse,” he said.

For the first time in Slovakia, more than five hundred cases were reported per day. The day before, the country reported 419 cases, exceeding the limit of 400 newly infected for the first time. Over 180 patients with covid-19 are hospitalized. There are 16 people in the intensive care unit, 14 of whom need lung ventilation, the ministry specified.
