The Alpine Ski World Cup, like other sports, has lost its charm. It’s been two years, when auditoriums were filled with emptiness, or paper models of people, they are gone. At the weekend, in Sölden, Austria, everything went back to the pre-pandemic period. And the fans appreciated the return to the maximum. Already on Friday it was clear that a large number of people came to see the first races. She lived in a city of four thousand people.

In Sölden it was shown how popular starting number draws are at the World Cup venues. Several hundred fans came to watch this event in the heart of the city on Friday and there were even more on Saturday. After three years, skiers have once again tried this pleasant duty. All fifteen who appeared on stage, including Petra Vlhová, were delighted to see the square full of fun.

The women’s match on Saturday, although unable to take place due to bad weather, did not dampen the spirits of the fans. It was a great celebration in Sölden, especially among the younger generation. Hospitality and hospitality owners were happy with the high income from the filled capacities, but some concluded it was also the worst weekend of the season for the city. The exuberant fun until the late hours of the morning was reflected in the condition of the streets.

After 23rd place in the giant slalom on Sunday, Adam Žampa admitted that he woke up twice during the night to the fact that fans were having a really loud party in the streets. However, before the race, the Slovak representative was looking forward to entertaining the spectators with the performances of his colleagues. And up to 14,500 of them made it to the finish line on the Rettenbach glacier.

Also this season we can expect a great atmosphere, to which the Slovak fans who have already come to Sölden will contribute. Most of them will go to see Petra Vlhová in Semmering, Špindlerův Mlyn and Kranjskj Gory, where the Slovak star will have a family atmosphere.
