Six U-20 World Cup Stadiums Not Yet Approved by FIFA

Jakarta

PSSI claims to have set six stadiums for the 2021 U-20 World Cup. However, FIFA is said to have not given the green light.

This was conveyed by the Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Gatot S. Dewa Broto, after hearing the PSSI exposure related to the response of the World Football Federation.

Gatot explained in a meeting attended by PSSI task executor, Yunus Nusi, deputy Cabinet Secretary, deputy Coordinating Ministry of PMK, Deputy State Secretariat, and finance about the U-20 World Cup, on Friday (6/26/2020), there was no FIFA statement that mentioned the six stadiums are final.

In the scope of the Ministries and Institutions meeting, PSSI only explained that they already have a decision about the six stadiums that will be used for the celebration of universal young soccer levels.

The six stadiums claimed by PSSI have been approved by FIFA are Gelora Bung Karno Stadium, Jakarta, Gelora Sriwijaya Stadium, Palembang, Manahan Solo Stadium, Surakarta, Si Jalak Harupat Stadium, Bandung, Gelora Bung Tomo, Surabaya, and I Wayan Dipta, Bali.

“So at that time (the meeting) I asked the Acting Secretary General of PSSI to explain how I was able to appoint the six stadiums. From where? Oh, there was a letter of Ketum PSSI (Mochamad Iriawan) to FIFA. FIFA did respond but there was a long note. For example, this stadium “There must be this requirement, this. So it is not yet an official FIFA stance. That’s what I need to get right,” Gatot told detikSport, Sunday (6/28/2020).

“This is only conditioning criticized by FIFA. Now, then the Acting Secretary General said that today (Friday, June 26) PSSI has sent a letter to the Menpora, Sesmen, and the Ministry of Public Works, but until this moment, there have been no letters,” he continued.

“What’s so hard about the information technology era now. If you want to hurry up, just send a scan, just send it to the Minister, after all they know the Menpora cellphone number, I, the Director General of Public Works. Well, it was disbursed at the meeting, but until “I haven’t received it yet,” he said.

Gatot further emphasized that the Ministry of Youth and Sports does not have any interest in determining the six stadiums. PSSI only needs to underline that preparations are continuing, while FIFA is said to only be able to go to Jakarta in September.

“That’s too long. Just try to prepare for the Asian Games, how much has we bothered for too long. If every week contact must be clear. We instead feel sorry for PSSI. So what is our note, until now we haven’t received the report, PUPR also hasn’t , “he said.

In addition, Gatot also criticized the matter of PSSI who dared to explain in an official meeting of the ministry’s agency even though it was not yet official.

“Please don’t be in the meeting forum. That’s an official meeting and all the deputies are present. Don’t then be sounded. It’s as if the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Public Works are blamed, that we have received (the report of the six stadiums). I was invited to communicate for stadium problems, “he stressed.
