Israeli Genocide in Gaza: 500 Medical Workers Killed, 35,034 Civilians Dead – Latest Updates and Calls for Action

Jerusalem: 500 medical workers have been killed in Gaza since the start of the Israeli offensive. The Palestinian Ministry of Health has published a tally of the number of medical workers who have died across Gaza since the fighting began last October.

Figures show that not only medical workers but also patients in hospitals were killed in the genocide by Israel. There were reports that many bodies of those killed in the Israeli attack that targeted the hospital were found in the surrounding areas.

Since the war began on October 7, 2023, the World Health Organization has reported that Israel has so far carried out 443 attacks on Gaza’s health sector. The World Health Organization released this report on May 2.

35,034 civilians have been killed so far as a result of Israel’s genocidal war. Most of them are women and children. 78,755 Palestinians have been injured in the war so far.

The ministry called on the international community to take the necessary measures to protect medical workers and health facilities in Gaza.

“Hospitals in southern Gaza have only three days of fuel left, meaning services could soon stop,” WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said on May 8.

Concerned about the dire humanitarian situation in southern Gaza, he condemned the atrocities committed by Israel. He opposed Israel’s decision to close the border between the city of Rafah and Egypt, saying that closing the border would hinder the countries’ decision to deliver humanitarian aid.
