Singer Romy Monteiro Voted Most Beautiful Woman in the Netherlands 2023 by FHM’s All-Female Jury

Monteiro follows in the footsteps of, among others, an actress Abbey Hoes, who was awarded the title last year. The singer speaks of ‘an enormous honour’. ,,The 17-year-old Romy never imagined this”, she laughs. In the past, the election was sometimes known as a meat inspection, even with winner Hoes herself. The magazine wants to keep up with the times and last year for the first time only included women in the list who had given permission.

,,Is female beauty still allowed to be celebrated?” asks Monteiro. “I can hope so. I am proud and happy that I am a woman, so I also think that I can propagate this. I just think it’s great that this is being celebrated.” The title is ‘extra valuable’ now that a female ‘professional jury’ has chosen, she says. It concerns chairman Kim Feenstra, curvy model Danielle van Grondelle, TV maker Veronica van Hoogdalem and Alissa Askander of lingerie brand Christine le Duc.

The winners of FHM500 traditionally do a sexy photo shoot for the magazine, but these days it is produced by an all-female team. In addition to the ‘grand prize’, there are also other categories every year, with the result being remarkably diverse this year.

Documentary maker Linda Hakeboom (37) receives the title Social media queen, for the impressive way she has kept her followers informed about her life after being diagnosed with breast cancer. “I am not a typical FHMgirl”, says the TV maker, who is also happy with the arrival of the jury. “I think women who support other women are special and quite necessary. Apparently I did something right, I find that very emotional. Especially with regard to this subject.”

The most beautiful sportswoman in the Netherlands is Fleur Jong (27), the fastest woman on blades and Paralympic long jump champion. ,,It’s a nice addition to everything I’m trying to achieve on a sporting level, but also socially”, she responds. “The fact that I win such a title says something about where we will be in 2023. Above all, it says that all great female champions are honored, regardless of disability, sexual orientation or color. If you are a great champion, you will be chosen in good conscience.” She is the first Paralympic who was voted the most beautiful sportswoman.

There is also one this year for the first time Rising starprize, an idea of ​​the jury. It goes to ’emerging women who are very strong’. The first winner is Surinamese-Dutch top model Gia Bab (34), a transgender person who worked for top brands such as Thierry Mugler and Jean Paul Gaultier.
