Sia became a grandmother at 44 years old!
The singer and songwriter who adopted two 18-year-old boys last year, just before they left the foster care system, said her family has grown by two more.
“My youngest son has just had two babies. I am a grandmother pu ****. I’m trying to convince them to call me Lovey, “exclaimed Sia during a discussion with Zane Lowe of Apple Music, explaining that she had stolen the idea of the nickname from her friend Kris Jenner, who has 10 grandchildren.
And new babies aren’t the only reason Sia is happy: one of her sons “recently made her coming out, he is flourishing and is the light of my life … I love him so much, “she said.
If the musician took pleasure in bonding with her “fantastic” boys, both black, their relationship was a little tense at first, because she tried to learn more about their difficult life, from a home of welcome to each other.
“They’ve been in 18 different places over the course of their 18 years,” said Sia, who insisted that the foster care system is “completely corrupt” and “drops” those who count on it .
Due to the trauma they have suffered over the years, the Australian star had to have multiple conversations with her sons to avoid them having problems with the authorities.
“I said to them, ‘I’m doing this because I’m your mother. I love you. I don’t want to see you in prison … With your history and the color of your skin, I don’t want to see you like those 5% who end up in prison for life. I don’t want that for you, ”she said.
The education of two teenagers has also made Sia more aware than ever of the importance of fighting racial injustice, and her new role has prompted her to intensify her activism for the Black Lives Matter movement.
“I am embarrassed that I had to adopt two black sons to really understand what they live in daily life,” admitted the artist, admitting that she was “very afraid” for her boys.
