Shooting at police raid in Belgian village, armed man holed up in home | Abroad

The police wanted to carry out a house search on Thursday night in a house in Vrasene, a sub-municipality of Beveren, on suspicion of drug trafficking. One of the residents of the house fired several shots at the officers, who then withdrew and surrounded the house.

The special intervention unit of the police arrived on the spot. Three people are said to have been in the house, but two women have probably left the house in the meantime. Attempts are currently being made to contact the shooter, who is believed to be alone in the home.
