A 17-year-old boy was shot dead Sunday evening in a sensitive neighborhood of Besançon, in the Doubs prefecture in France, by a gunman who fled while another man was arrested.

The deceased young man, known to the police and the justice system, was shot in the chest around 7:30 p.m. while standing at the foot of a building bar, AFP told AFP. substitute for the Besançon prosecutor, Alexia Marquis. The arrested man was in a car with the gunman, who fled, she said.
Life in the sensitive district of Planoise in Besançon was punctuated between last November and March by armed clashes between rival gangs, against the backdrop of drug trafficking.
A situation that had led the Doubs prefecture to introduce a mid-March curfew for minors under 16 years of age.
Fifteen people suspected of being involved in the settling of armed accounts linked to the drug trade were also charged.
According to Ms. Marquis, it was too early Sunday evening to establish a link between these events and the death of the 17-year-old boy.
