Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Russian leader Vladimir Putin telephoned Chinese President Xi Jinping Monday (28/6/2021). The call was made amid tensions between the two countries against the United States (US) and the West.
However, it turned out that the communication between the two was not related to hostility with Joe Biden et al. Putin, called the Associated Press (AP), congratulated Xi on 100 years of the Chinese Communist Party.
In the call, Putin lauded China, saying it made new achievements in domestic socio-economic development and on the global stage. Russia, he said, also gave full support to China.
Putin also praised the closer ties between the two countries. Russia and China are also extending a 20 -year -old friendship agreement.
“Relations between Moscow and Beijing are at an unprecedented level and will be extended for another five years,” Putin said, speaking with Xi Jinping via video call.
“Russia and China have played a role of stability in global affairs.”
Xi said the same thing. He defended the steps of the two countries on the global stage and emphasized strategic cooperation.
“Russia and China have worked to uphold true multilateralism and global justice,” he said.
