Shesar Vito and 2 Indonesian Representatives withdrew from the World Championship

Jakarta

Shesar Hiren Rhustavito and two representatives of Indonesia withdrew from 2022 World Championship. This is stated in the latest list of the second phase released by the Badminton World Federation (BWF).

In the list, the three representatives of Indonesia are in addition to the men’s singles Shesar Hiren Rhustavito, Adnan Maulana/Mychelle Crhystine Bandaso mixed doubles, and women’s doubles Nita Violina Marwah/Putri Syaikah. As explained in the BWF release, the three decided to resign on 5 August.

Shesar himself was doubtful from the start because of the calf injury he suffered in the quarter-finals of the Malaysia Open 2022. He had undergone various treatments to recover from his injury, but apparently Vito was not completely convinced of his condition.

This was conveyed by the Head of Binpres PBSI, Rionny Mainaky, in early August regarding the current condition of the athletes.

“Regarding Vito, yes, that’s why I can’t answer because he’s not sure himself. There are people who ask, if he can answer, ‘yes, you can’. After that, I can ask again what percentage is about? Then I coordinated with the coach,” Rionny told reporters.

At that time, Rionny also explained that he could only confirm Shesar Hiren Rhustavito can continue to appear on World Championship after a week or about August 7th. However, he will also not force his athletes to fly to Tokyo if they are still injured.

“Yes, we can’t force an injury. And it’s not because of the trauma of injury, it’s an average like that. But what I see is he’s not sure yet,” said Rionny at the time.

detikSport has tried to confirm the news related to the resignation of the three representatives of Indonesia. Through the Head of Public Relations and Media of PBSI, Broto Happy, he said he would give his official statement through the Head of Binpres PBSI, Rionny.

“The official statement is from Coach Rionny. But he’s still training, so please wait,” said Broto.
