She published the photo, then found it on a sex site

Although she was not naked on them, an unknown person shared her photos on the web so that other users could rate them and sexually satisfy themselves.

Michaela could not defend herself against posting her pictures on such a site, as she shared the photos on her open profile on the Instagram social network. Her face was not covered, and her first name was published.

“It simply came to my notice then. It can negatively affect my working life. For example, if I know a client who wants to find out something about me, he can visit this page and think that I published the pictures myself there, “said Michaela, who works in a real estate agency.

Property crime is the most common cyberspace. Another larger group is moral crime

Michaela cannot prevent such misuse of his data, which is confirmed by Kamil Kopecký from the Center for Prevention of Risky Virtual Communication, Faculty of Education, Palacký University in Olomouc.

“The question arises as to what is actually considered stealing profile photos on social networks, when users voluntarily publish this content and share it with others. It is therefore necessary to reckon with the fact that anything they publish can be further expanded, because they have made it possible themselves, “said Kopecký.

After the incident, Michaela closed her social network profiles so that only her friends could see her posts, and deleted followers she didn’t know.

Although such steps may seem to be sufficient prevention, Kopecký warns that shared data is still public on the Internet, even if it does not seem so.

“Therefore, users should not upload content that is exploitable on social networks, such as detailed information about the privacy of where they live, details about children, etc.,” Kopecký stated.

Moral crime includes the production, possession and distribution of illicit pornography, as well as various forms of online sexual coercion or illicit contact with children. The police dealt with 260 such cases last year.
