Severe Flooding in South Korea: More Than 10 People Missing, Landslides, Flooded Highways, and Evacuations

More than 10 people are considered missing.

The highest number of victims is in the mountainous province of Gyeongsanbukto in the east of the country, where many landslides have occurred, destroying buildings.

In Chungcheongbukto province, a 685-meter-long highway flooded with 15 vehicles, including a bus, in the middle of the country. Nine people were rescued from the tunnel, but several dead were also found. The pumping of water from the tunnel continues. The rescuers assume that there are several more dead people in the tunnel.

In Chungcheongbuk-do province, more than 6,000 people were also evacuated as a dam near which they live began to flood. Several villages were flooded.

Railway traffic in the country is disrupted due to floods.

Meteorologists predict that the rains in South Korea will continue until Wednesday.
