Part of an apartment building in Hoogeveen has been evacuated due to a fire. It broke out late on Saturday evening on the seventh floor of the building in the Hoofdstraat, in the center of the Drenthe town.
A spokesperson for the Drenthe Safety Region says that residents of the fifth, sixth and seventh floors of the flat had to leave their homes. Ladder trucks have been used to get people off the balcony. Ambulances and a trauma helicopter were also on the scene.
The fire was under control around 1 a.m., the cause is not yet known. Two residents were taken to hospital as a precaution.
