The 25-year-old Morin must have heaved a sigh of relief, he whose professional debut has been punctuated by many trials since he was drafted, 11e in total, in 2013. Multiple injuries to a knee, the native of Lac-Beauport has not played a full season in the NHL or in the American League since 2017.

Morin, who was in his 15e career game in the Bettman Circuit, therefore hit the target with less than five minutes to go in the third period. He let go of a real ball that was able to make its way behind Rangers goalie Igor Shesterkin.

His teammates threw themselves straight at him after that net and the 6’6 ” giant was voted the game’s first star.

“Probably the best moment of my life,” he later revealed.

“It’s crazy how fast it goes. You always have to be ready, admitted in a post-game interview the one who had just been recalled from the reserve squad. I am very happy. It is the happiest moment of my life, of course. It was a great moment and we had to win. ”

Always ready to work

Morin is obviously very much loved by his teammates and goalkeeper Brian Elliott paid tribute to the Quebecois’ difficult course.

“He’s been through a lot. He’s coming back from injuries and operations. He always comes back with a smile on his face, ready to go to work and he loves being on the ice with the guys, ”said the veteran.

Nolan Patrick was the Flyers’ first scorer, who ended a four-game losing streak.

Mika Zibanejad scored the only goal for Rangers. Despite the setback, Shesterkin did well with 35 saves.

Elsewhere in the NHL
