Seven people arrested in France for marketing counterfeit Covid-19 test results – Abroad – News

The detainees have sold the fake results at Paris Charles de Gaulle airport for 150 to 300 euros a piece, the prosecutor’s office said on Friday.

Investigators have found the results of more than 200 fake tests on mobile phones among the detainees.

Due to the pandemic, several countries only allow entry after passing a negative Covid-19 test.

French police launched an investigation after a passenger preparing to fly to Ethiopia was caught with a fake negative Covid-19 test.

The detainees – six men and a woman – are scheduled to be tried in March. They can be sentenced to up to five years in prison and up to € 375,000.

French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanen thanked the police for catching the counterfeiters on Twitter.
