Seven infected in Karviná. The league will postpone three group rescue matches due to coronavirus

Due to the coronavirus infection in the Karviná team, three rescue group matches will not be played in the first football league over the weekend, the next match will take place according to plan. Despite this complication, the League Football Association wants to finish the season. Now he is waiting for the opinion of the hygienic station of the Moravian-Silesian region.

“The league football association will work with the club to find a solution to the complete completion of the competition year, which remains the main goal of the competition management. in the press release.

On Wednesday evening, the iSport.cz server brought information about three cases of infection in the Silesian club. Today, the number of infected people in the team has reportedly increased to seven. Neither the club nor the league management reported the number of cases.

The matches Zlín – Karviná, Příbram – Teplice and Opava – Olomouc will not be played on Saturday. In addition to the Karviná match, the LFA postponed two other rescue duels “in order to maintain the regularity of the competition”.

Positive tests of Karviná football players for covid-19 were confirmed by assistant coach Petr Mašlej. “It was probably brought to the club by a youth fitness coach who works at the mine. The boys were in contact with him,” Mašlej told Radiožurnál. Karviná is currently the most affected region in the country, the coronavirus infection has spread among the miners of the mining company OKD.

Andrea Lipjaková, head of the anti-epidemic department of hygienists in Karviná, told ČTK that it could be clear in the afternoon about what measures will be taken in the club. “It’s still a solution. We are currently working on it. We are making a decision,” Lipjaková said without further details.

The situation in Karviná may jeopardize the completion of the highest competition. If the whole team had to quarantine, they would not be able to finish the season as planned. “If a strict and widespread fortnightly quarantine were imposed on the club, it would be very difficult to solve,” LFA chairman Dušan Svoboda told SeznamZprávy.cz.

In May, the LFA League Committee approved a change in the schedule of competitions, which contains modified rules for determining the order in case of extraordinary circumstances. A certain winner of the league is Slavia Praha. If the group completes the title, Slavia should become the champion.

If the rescue team did not finish, no one would step down from the top competition. Only the winner would advance from the second league and the draw would be canceled. Next year’s top competition would be played by 17 instead of the usual 16 teams.

Less than two weeks ago, the second-league Třinec had to enter a two-week quarantine due to an infected player. He finally returned to the competition three days earlier. Three of his matches were postponed and the end of the league group for rescue and relegation was slightly shifted.

Before the restart of the first league, the infection appeared in one player in Mladá Boleslav and the championship Slavia. Both infected footballers have already recovered from covid-19 and got back into training. Even the clubs do not disclose the identity of positively tested LFAs.
