A 71-year-old man was seriously injured in a collision around noon on Thursday in Compiègne (Oise). In this accident, was involved “a vehicle
of the national gendarmerie and a Renault Clio aboard which was a couple of people aged 71, ”said Virginie Girard, public prosecutor, in a press release.
The driver of the Clio “was helicoptered to the University Hospital of Amiens, suffering from multiple trauma, his vital prognosis would be engaged”. “His wife, whose injuries are less serious and whose days are not in danger, was transported to the Compiègne hospital”, underlined the prosecutor.
The individual pursued by the soldiers still at large
The gendarmerie vehicle “was occupied by two soldiers you GIGN, then in intervention within the framework of an operation of judicial police ”. They suffer from “relatively light” lesions. At the time of the accident, the soldiers “were in pursuit of a person wanted in the context of several investigations and who had just, a few kilometers previously, refused to comply while endangering the lives of the gendarmes.”
A double judicial investigation of flagrance was opened by the prosecution of Compiègne. A first investigation “is carried out on the count of unintentional injuries resulting in an ITT of less than 30 days” in order “to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the accident”. The second investigation, carried out on the count of refusal to comply with endangering the lives of others, aims to “challenge the individual, to date on the run”.
