Serafin Bordoli: The Rising Star and Captain of C’Chartres Rugby

His arrival in Chartres is a new beginning. At the end of a cataclysmic season with Cognac-Saint-Jean, in National (no victory), the Italian-Argentinian Serafin Bordoli quickly made his mark, this summer, with his new partners, and was even entrusted with the armband of the CCR, which travels to Sarcelles, this Sunday afternoon.

C’Chartres Rugby loses its invincibility at home against Geneva and suffers a second setback in a row: the reaction of Renaud Gourdon

“It’s clearly an honor, as well as a responsibility. But it suits me well,” says the 28-year-old native of Buenos Aires, not necessarily suited for this role.

“Of course, having a career in Europe is not something I had imagined at the start. Facing Jonathan Sexton or James Lowe, going to challenge Stade Toulousain, it’s pretty crazy.”

“Basically, I’m someone who doesn’t put myself forward. The captaincy is a first for me. I think it shows in the speeches in the locker room!”, laughs Franco -Argentinian, rather comfortable with the language of Molière, but accustomed to “transversal” speeches. “A cocktail between Spanish, Italian and French!” confesses the fly-half-scorer, who hesitated for a long time between football and rugby.

Xandré Vos, the South African from C’Chartres Rugby sees a victory… for the Springboks

“In Argentina, football is “compulsory” at school and I played it until the age of 12-13. Then, it was friends who made me turn to the oval ball” , continues “Sera”, born and trained in Olivos, a district of Buenos Aires, which he left at the age of 18 for Italy (Zèbres then Calvisano, between 2015 and 2018).
A choice he has never had to regret. “Of course, having a career in Europe is not something I had imagined at the start. Facing Jonathan Sexton or James Lowe, going to challenge Stade Toulousain, it’s pretty crazy,” recalls -he. An experience which counted in the choice to entrust him with the armband.

In addition to his role as conductor on the field, he is unanimous in the locker room.

“Serafin has reached maturity. He is a calm, calm person. He always speaks positively, with the right words. In addition to his role as conductor on the field, he is unanimously appreciated in the locker room”, greets his coach, Renaud Gourdon, who will once again count on him, this Sunday, on the armband and on the boot, which he shares with Aaron Stafford.
