Relatives from the annexed Crimea called Pavel Zibrov with an offer, voicing pro-Kremlin narratives.
Singer, composer, People’s Artist of Ukraine Pavel Zibrov spoke about the first weeks of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. “At first there was a strong panic, and then life went on. The nervous system got used to everything,” he says.
In addition, in an interview with “Gordon” the musician spoke about numerous relatives on the territory of the Russian Federation and in the occupied Crimea, who became victims of Russian propaganda and believe in “Ukrainian fascists”.
“We have relatives in Sevastopol, second cousins. They called: “If you have a difficult situation, then we are ready to receive you. Come. Because it’s dangerous for you there, there are Bandera, the Nazis seized power … Come to us. You are still relatives,” the singer shares his memories of a year ago about the call of relatives.
He spoke about the reaction of his family to such a proposal.
“They sent it. After that, we no longer talked: I never picked up the phone, I don’t pick it up and I won’t pick it up,” – said Zibrov.
He explained that contacts were broken and cannot be restored until they realize what Putin, their government and their people have done. Only after realizing the crimes of the Kremlin will the composer be able to talk with relatives who support the aggressor country.
About his relationship with Russian artists, Zibrov said briefly: “I don’t want to know them. They’re not my friends.”
