Seniors Targeted by Scooter Robbers, Police Say – NBC New York (47)

NEW YORKPolice are searching for a scooter-riding duo they say have assaulted and robbed seniors in Manhattan.

According to New York City police, police received a report of the scooter-riding duo approaching an 85-year-old woman on January 2 around 10:30 p.m. on West 34th Street in the direction of Eighth. Avenue in Midtown. The couple allegedly forcibly stole her handbag from her hand as they continued to drive the scooters on Eighth Avenue heading north.

The woman suffered a minor hand injury and was transported to Lenox Hill Healthplex in stable condition, police said.

His stolen wallet contained a bank card, personal identification and personal documents, according to the NYPD.

The second incident allegedly related to this duo took place on Saturday. It was on this day around 5:15 p.m. that the duo, once again on scooters, approached a 76-year-old woman who was walking down East 6 Street near Avenue A and tried to forcefully take her bag, which which caused him to fall to the ground.

In this incident, according to police, the duo failed to steal the bag and both fled on the scooters traveling down East 6 Street heading west toward First Avenue.

The 76-year-old woman sustained a left eye injury and left wrist swelling and was transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue in stable condition.

Police describe the first individual as a skinny teenager. In both incidents he was wearing a red hooded sweatshirt, a dark vest, black pants, and black shoes with white designs.

Police also describe the second individual as another teenager with a slim build as well. In both incidents he was wearing a green winter hat, a black and white jacket, black jeans, and black tennis shoes.
