Selma Omari breaks down over tough tactics in De Verraders, citing past bullying as root cause.

All day long Selma Omari has been trying to convince the others to banish Noël from Cleves. She is very sure of herself. “She’s a Traitor anyway,” she tells anyone who will listen. When Noël approaches, Selma does not ignore it. “You’re on my list. I’m just being honest.”

Noël regrets that her role as Faithful is being doubted. “At the Round Table you will see that you are wrong.” Noël indicates that she would be much too nervous if she were a Traitor. Selma isn’t convinced: “I’m going full on you!” That touches Noël enormously. Tears stream down her cheeks in her confession. “I know it’s a game and you have to vote people home. It’s not personal, but I’m still shocked how hard the game suddenly is.”

What Noël fears becomes reality. Selma fights fiercely during the Round Table. The other candidates see that too. “What happens then is truly a battlefield. Selma goes straight into it with three somersaults. How intense. Selma knows no rest,” says Jessie Maya. Noël cannot hold back her tears during the ceremony.

Despite Noël’s tears, Selma manages to convince many people and they flock to the actress. She must disclose her role. “Don’t forget your humanity. I am a Faithful One,” says Noël. And that to the great shock of the candidates, but especially of Selma who caused it. “I think it sucks. I don’t like it. It has made me a bit smaller,” she says after the Round Table.

Selma tells Traitor Katinka why she voted for Noël. “She always agreed what the best interests of the Faithful group was and I held her accountable for that. That was one of my arguments.”

Selma is visibly upset. In her confession, she bursts into tears. “It’s really just a discharge. If I disagree with something, I go into it very fervently. Then I stand for something,” says Selma.

She also knows where that comes from. “That may be due to a bullying past, that I didn’t dare to stand up for myself and that I suddenly do that a lot now. But I must not forget that it can make me come across as very exaggerated and intense to other people. Including, for example, a Noël, which I really regret.”

The Traitors are another round ahead. You can see whether that succeeds next time every Friday at 8 p.m. on RTL 4.
