Selling well like hotcakes when sold, Ola’s electric scooter is now getting a lot of protests

Jakarta

The Ola Sempar electric scooter became a hit a few months ago when it was first sold to the Indian market. Now, when the motor has arrived in the hands of consumers, there are some who protest that they are not satisfied with the finishing to the features and capabilities of the battery.

According to Electrek, Ola has started shipping electric scooters to consumers in mid-December.

The move is a continuation of the electric scooter sales process from this Indian startup, which previously launched the Ola S1 and S1 Pro electric scooters in August.

Since it was first launched, Ola has been flooded with orders from a number of people in India. At one time shortly after its launch, this electric scooter was claimed to sell two units every one second.

However, after the electric scooter was delivered, some customers were dissatisfied and expressed their complaints on social media to Ola.

One of them is experienced by Karthik Varma. He uploaded a number of photos on Twitter and showed there were a number of scuffs and fine scratches on the body panels of his Ola S1 Pro motorbike.

In addition, there is also a fairly wide gap between the motor body and the instrument panel. The existence of this gap is feared that water can enter into the gaps, so that it can damage the panel screen if driving in the rain.

The results of tests conducted by Varma also experienced differences. During the S1 Pro test drive session, the results showed that the electric scooter could cover a distance of up to 150 km. But when he bought it, the S1 Pro scooter could only cover a distance of 135 km, even though the battery was already 100% charged.

There are also consumers who complain if there are problems with the brakes on the Ola S1 Pro scooter. In fact, he himself had only driven the electric scooter as far as 6 km. As a result, he had to take the electric scooter to the nearest dealer for service.

A consumer named Rahul Parasadh also expressed his complaint about the design flaw of the Ola electric scooter. In the seat with motor stirrup there is no gap at all, causing damage to the body panels.

In response to these various complaints, Ola provides a number of offers to consumers ranging from replacing a new unit, bringing the electric scooter to the nearest dealer for servicing, to waiting for the latest software update.

The complaints of several Ola owners are in line with the protests expressed by a number of the first consumers of the motorbike. They complained that the features on the Ola electric scooter could not be used. Some of them are mobile application features, hill hold, cruise control, voice command (voice commands), and Bluetooth.

Reportedly, for customers who have not been able to enjoy this feature, they will have to wait for about a month longer. Later, Ola will present software updates via Over the Air.

The Ola electric scooter starts at 79,999 rupees or around 15 million rupiah.
