Ségur de la santé: all you need to know about the new salary scale for nursing staff

This Monday April 12, as part of the second act of the Ségur de la santé, the Minister of Health Olivier Véran gave details of the wage increase intended for nurses, orderlies and other professionals in the paramedical sector.

A first check for 7.6 billion euros resulted in a revaluation of 183 € net per month for all midwives and non-medical staff in the public (ie 1.8 million people). And in February for agents of the social and medico-social sector attached to a public establishment and employees of the private sector.

Who is concerned ?

The revision of the salary scale will concern all nursing staff : caregivers, nurses, specialized nurses, health executives, childcare workers, but also medico-technical and rehabilitation professionals such as orthoptists, speech therapists, physiotherapists, psychomotor therapists or even chiropodists.

These are therefore, according to the estimates of the Ministry of Health, around 500,000 people working in the hospital public service who will be affected by the upgrading of salary scales.

These increases will occur subsequently for employees in other public services (20,000 people) and in the private sector (250,000 people).

What will the increases be?

The first part of the Ségur de la Santé had already granted a salary increase of € 183 net per month for medical staff (excluding doctors), or 1.5 million people.

This second act, which will run from October 2021 and in the course of 2022, provides for an upgrading of careers, with different salary increases depending on seniority and profession. Here are some examples :

For general care nurses: at the end of the first year, the measure will lead to an increase of € 107 net per month for a nurse paid at € 1,736 net per month. And with the increase of € 183 net per month during the first axis of the Ségur de la santé, it is a monthly revaluation of € 290 that this general care nurse will have to receive after a year of career.

At the end of his career, beyond 20 years, this same nurse will experience a salary increase of € 536 net per month.

For caregivers:

For masseurs and physiotherapists:

The same goes for the 200,000 nursing assistants in France, who will see their salary increase by 45 € net after one year of career, and up to 468 € at the end of their career.

For healthcare executives:



The government thus wishes to revalue the salary scales of paramedical personnel at all stages of their careers. These revaluations represent an investment of 740 million euros, according to figures from the ministry.

What are the deadlines?

The salary increase will take place on 1is October 2021 for the hospital public service, at the beginning of 2022 for the territorial public service, the State public service and for the private sector.
