See the reasons for rising food prices

As politicians distribute posts, food prices continue to rise. This is shown by data from the Center for Economic Research in Agriculture. Some say that the end of cheap food in our country has come.

Before BNT Dimitar Zorov from the Association of Dairy Producers and Vladimir Ivanov from the State Commission on Commodity Exchanges and Markets.

“Posts, ministries and coalition agreements are being negotiated, and no one has met with the industry to be a politician in the coalition agreements,” Dimitar Zorov commented.

He said that dairy products in our country are currently much cheaper than their cost, and cheaper ones may not contain the necessary nutritional value. Zorov is adamant that all milk producers in our country are working at a loss.

“One yellow cheese for BGN 20 / kg includes the trade mark-up – about 40%, 20% VAT and the producer is left with 40% profit. Currently, the milk at the stock exchange price in Europe is about BGN 1, and in Bulgaria – about 90 A yellow cheese is made with 10 liters of milk – how can yellow cheese for BGN 12 come out, given that we have four times higher electricity, twice as expensive gas, “he explained.

The situation of Bulgarian producers and processors is not rosy at all, Vladimir Ivanov confirmed. On the one hand, the resources needed for crop production are increasing – fertilizers, fuels and others. On the other hand, there is pressure on the market, which is very competitive, which is reflected as a vise for the producers who are in the middle of the chain

According to both, there are no drastic jumps in the price of fish, because Bulgarians traditionally do not consume fish products.

Pork has risen by 1% since last year, its price is stable, as there is oversupply on the European market. It is not expected to rise in price after the New Year.

Cabbage has risen in price by 69% because it has low production and a bad climate. The production of fruits and vegetables depends mostly on the time of year.

There is talk of billions to help the population, which is needed, but no one is talking about supporting the business, Zorov added. The clash between supply and demand is very powerful and these are the important factors that determine market prices, Ivanov added.
