The security situation in Switzerland has “not deteriorated” – despite Putin’s attack on Ukraine. This is the conclusion of the DDPS Defense Department, as reported on request. Switzerland is indirectly affected. However, the DDPS considers the risk of being drawn into the war or even directly attacked to be “low”.
Even if the conflict were to spread to surrounding NATO countries, the risk would not increase. In such a case, Switzerland would “not automatically” be drawn into the war, writes the DDPS. In addition, NATO’s protective belt continues to exist – “and should be strengthened due to the Russian attack on Ukraine”.
