Security: a new terrorist attack in Sévaré

In the early morning, around 5:20 a.m., a huge noise wakes up the inhabitants of Sévaré who are still asleep. The start of a new attack in the city targeting the premises of the Defense and Security Forces. The attackers reportedly came from Bandiagara in vehicles loaded with explosives towards the National Guard camp and Sévaré airport. They were stopped according to testimonies in the Sarena district where the drones of the Malian army came into action to destroy the arsenal of the terrorists. According to a source on site, Army helicopters flew over the city in the morning while a search was underway. A large part of the city has been cordoned off by the defense and security forces. Several injured, including internally displaced persons whose camp is located near the impact area, were evacuated to the Sominé Dolo hospital. Some sources quoting hospital officials also mention several deaths. The army assured to have thwarted a complex attack around the airport but has not yet communicated a report.
