The journalist taught her class based on these objectives, explaining to her students about the structure of the news, in order for them to identify the essential elements of a story, how to organize them logically, to present them in a clear and concise manner. , highlighting precision and objectivity in journalistic writing, as well as the importance of adapting content to the needs and preferences of the audience. Hence the title of her workshop: “Open your eyes wide, for the antennas!”

For his part, professional photographer Marco Lara captured the attention of the students with an introductory class on the fascinating world of journalistic photography, introducing them to the key techniques to capture striking and significant images, even using what he considers as “ limited cell phone resources. Lara shared practical tips on composition, lighting and framing, essential for creating photographs that tell captivating stories. The artist recognized the excellent reception and active participation of the class, “where everyone was very attentive, showing a great interest in learning, which told me that they found the content interesting and easy to understand,” said the expert.

School journalists

Meanwhile, the students who participated in this beginning of the second version of the “School Journalism Workshop” demonstrated particular interest in learning about journalism and wanting to develop communication skills that favor their performance within their school premises.

For David Castro, a seventh-year student at Moisés Mussa School, the workshop taught him “many interesting things, such as the ways in which we can use the media we have to communicate at school. In addition, we were able to see the use that social networks are given, to publicize situations that happen” in their environment, explained the future journalist.

For her part, Pascal Araneda, an eighth grade student at the Mineral El Teniente school, said that the activity “was very cool, since I learned new things about journalism, discovering that it is more complicated and more professional than it seems. I really liked this experience, so it is worth getting up on a Saturday to come and learn about communication,” Araneda highlighted with evident interest.
