In Hoogeveen, emergency services are looking for a drowning person in the water at the Nijstad pavilion.

The victim is said to have entered the water this afternoon and disappeared under water. According to a photographer, employees of the pavilion initially dived into the water to save the drowning person. Visitors to the pavilion have since been turned away.

Later, divers from the fire brigade from Emmen and Zwolle arrived on the scene to look for the victim. Emergency services also searched around the water. A police helicopter supported the search from the air.
